The ISO interim audit is part of NISU’s continuous improvement initiative to ensure operational efficiency, enhance stakeholder satisfaction, and meet evolving educational demands.

Dr. Gilda E. Deguma, Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted on her speech that the certification to ISO can enhance the integrity and reputation that can help in leading to more prospects and partnerships.

“Implementing ISO standards can also help us to improve efficiency in the concerned offices, minimize risk resulting in increased sustainability,” Dr. Deguma added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, the University President, emphasized the importance of maintaining international standards for the benefit of stakeholders and the entire institution.

“Let us maintain our focus on continuous improvement ensuring that NISU emerges from this process stronger, more efficient and more aligned with our mission of transforming lives and communities through education,” said Dr. Gerardo.

Northern Iloilo State University is deeply mournful of the passing of Dr. Zinnia Parcon Teruel, former Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VI and former Board of Trustee Member of the Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (now NISU). Her loss leaves an immense void in the hearts of all who had the honor of working with her, and her remarkable contributions to both science and education will be forever remembered.
Throughout her career, Dr. Teruel was a visionary, dedicating her efforts to advancing science, technology, and education in the region. Her impact also extended to higher education, where, as a member of the NIPSC Board of Trustees, she played an instrumental role in shaping the future of the institution. Her legacy continues to inspire and guide future generations of students, faculty, and staff.
During this time of sorrow, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by her presence. Her kindness, selflessness, and ability to inspire others forged enduring relationships with all who were fortunate to know her. While Dr. Teruel may no longer be with us, her legacy will live on through the countless lives she impacted and the lasting difference she made in her community, her country, and the fields of science and education.
