Northern Iloilo State University (NISU), led by University President Dr. Raffy B. Chavez, paid an official visit to Central Mindanao University (CMU) to gain valuable insights and learn from the University’s successful academic initiatives in support of NISU’s continuing pursuit of excellence in higher education.

 

Recognized as a Level IV State University and College (SUC), Central Mindanao University has earned Centers of Excellence in Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, and Forestry, making it an important institution for NISU as it prepares its Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, the University’s flagship program, for its own application as a Center of Excellence.

 

A highlight of the visit was the discussion with Dr. Judith D. Intong, Dean of the College of Agriculture, who shared CMU’s experiences, academic practices, quality assurance initiatives, faculty development programs, research and extension accomplishments, and other key factors that contributed to the College’s recognition as a Center of Excellence.

 

 

Members of the NISU delegation actively engaged in a series of questions to better understand the standards, processes, and institutional support necessary to achieve and sustain such distinction.

 

Joining President Chavez were Dr. Bobby D. Gerardo, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation; Dr. Gilda E. Deguma, Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Atty. Niezel T. Sabrido, Vice President for Administration and Finance, together with the Campus Administrators of the University delegation.

 

They also toured CMU’s agriculture laboratories, research facilities, and the University Library to observe the University’s academic resources and learning environment.

 

The visit concluded with a dialogue with the University President, Dr. Rolito G. Eballe, where both universities exchanged ideas on academic leadership and institutional development.

 

The meeting also reinforced the spirit of cooperation between the two state universities in promoting excellence in instruction, research, extension, and innovation.

 

The visit reflects Northern Iloilo State University’s commitment to continuously enhance the quality of its academic programs by learning from established institutions.

 

The knowledge and insights gained from Central Mindanao University will further support NISU’s efforts to elevate its Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program and advance its goal of achieving Center of Excellence status.
